Turkey surpasses 2 million mark in COVID-19 testing - Health Ministry
Turkey has in the last 24 hours exceeded 2 million tests for the novel coronavirus since the country’s first case was announced on March 11, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.
“Our total number of tests has exceeded 2 million,” Health Minister Fahretttin Koca said during his daily Twitter briefing.“Our daily test count has increased by 3,000 compared to yesterday. Our new cases count is below 1,000. ”
According to official figures, 983 out of the 39,230 people tested since Friday evening have tested positive for COVID-19.
Turkey’s death toll rose by 26 to 4,515 in the same time frame, while 1,021 recovered patients brought the country’s total to 126,984.
The number of patients in intensive care units dropped by 13 to 649, and intubated patients by 16 to 308 since Friday.
Koca’s announcement came ahead of Turkey’s preparations to ease pandemic restrictions on June 1. Restrictions on intercity travel and public prayers have already been lifted this week.
Toplam test sayımız 2 milyonu geçti. Düne göre günlük test sayımız 3.000 arttı. Yeni vaka sayımız 1.000’in altında. Gelecek günler, el hijyenine özene; maske ve sosyal mesafe kuralının ikisine birlikte uymamıza bağlı. DAHA SIKI TEDBİR, DAHA İYİ SONUÇTUR. https://t.co/RVlhe7786O pic.twitter.com/XSDhaFnh7o— Dr. Fahrettin Koca (@drfahrettinkoca) May 30, 2020
