Turkish medical body says 112 health workers die from COVID-19
The Turkish Medical Association (TTB) said 112 healthcare workers, including 48 doctors, died from the coronavirus since the first case was announced in Turkey on March 11, Diken news website reported on Monday.
TTB said in a report that the Health Ministry had not shared detailed information on workers who were infected with COVID-19 or who had died from the virus until September.
"As a result of our persistent requests, the ministry announced at the beginning of September that 29,865 healthcare workers got sick. But it did not share the number of healthcare workers that we lost,” the TTB said.
TTB has been criticising the government's coronavirus response and has accused it of underreporting cases and failing to provide personal protective equipment for healthcare workers on time.
