Turkish owner seeks $2.1 million for tiny Grand Bazaar shop

The owner of a shop in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar measuring 9.2 square meters (99 square feet) is offering the property for 12 million liras ($2.1 million), Daily Sabah newspaper reported.

The shop, located next to the Grand Bazaar’s Beyazit Gate, will be sold via auction on Jan. 10, Daily Sabah said citing a newspaper announcement by the Sales Office of Istanbul’s Sixth Court of Peace.

The covered market, a few minutes’ walk the Blue Mosque and Topkapı Palace, is the historic heartland of Istanbul’s retail sector and attracts millions of foreign tourists a year.  

The shop currently trades as the Stil Gold Exchange Centre, Daily Sabah reported.
