Turkish, Greek defence officials to ease Aegean Sea tensions

Turkey will host Greek defence officials in the capital Ankara for technical negotiations to improve cooperation in the Aegean Sea, Turkey's Defence Ministry has said in a written statement on Monday.

"The second round of meetings between the delegations of the Turkish and Greek Ministries of National Defence, aimed to enhance cooperation in the Aegean Sea in particular confidence-building measures, will be held in Ankara from June 17-21, 2019," the statement said.

Last month, defence officials from Turkey and Greece held talks in Athens over issues related to the Aegean Sea, as tensions between the two countries have recently heightened in the eastern Mediterranean over disputes on gas exploration and drilling efforts.
