Turkey to suspend flights from China in coronavirus precaution – minister

Turkey’s health minister announced on Monday the suspension of all incoming flights from China starting on Wednesday as a precaution against the novel coronavirus outbreak that started in the Chinese province of Wuhan in January, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

Flights from China will be suspended until the end of the month, and all passengers arriving from Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Malaysia will be monitored for signs of illness using thermographic cameras, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said.

The coronavirus has killed at least 362 people and infected more than 17,000 to date after spreading across more than 25 countries.

Turkey has placed 61 people it evacuated from China under quarantine in the capital Ankara and monitored them for signs of the virus, but all have tested negative so far, the Health Ministry said.
