Turkey cancels tender to expand Antalya airport

Turkey cancelled a tender for the expansion of an airport near the southern tourist city of Antalya, Diken news website reported on Monday.

Turkey was seeking a down payment of 40 million euros for firms to take part in the tender this month, which would increase capacity at the airport’s domestic and international terminals, Diken said. It did not provide a reason for the decision.

Visitors to Antalya helped drive growth in Turkey’s tourism industry last year. Tourists entering the country increased by an annual 14 percent to 42.9 million in the first 11 months.
