“The majesty of our ancestors is renowned in the world / Think not one’s nature would change, this blood is the same,” Çavuşoğlu captioned the photograph posted on Instagram, quoting a famous poem from renowned Ottoman writer Namık Kemal.

A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said Lavrov and Çavuşoğlu discussed the situation in north-eastern Syria and possible solutions to the developments in Syria in detail, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported

The Turkish army has been preparing to enter north-east Syria in a bid to “clear the area of terrorists”, as ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Chairman Numan Kurtulmuş said on Monday, referring to the U.S-backed Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Turkey had decided to go forward with the operation plans after deeming plans made in August to establish a safe zone together with the United States along the Turkish border in northern Syria not satisfactory.
