Turkish defence giant Aselsan opens Qatar branch
Turkey’s top defence contractor Aselsanhas opened a branch in Turkish ally Qatar, state-run Anadolu news agency reported.
Named ASELSAN Elektronik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. QSTP-B, the branch has been launched to provide support for the contractor’s increasing activities in the oil rich Gulf nation, according to the statement issued on the Turkish Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
The strengthening relations between Qatar and Turkey have led to an exponential growth in trade volumes between the two countries. The volume of bilateral trade between Qatar and Turkey was $2 billion in 2019.
Ankara-based defence corporation Aselsan placed 48th in Defence News’s 2020 list of the world’s top 100 defence companies.
