Russian Su-35 jet arrives Turkey for aerospace festival
A Russian Su-35 jet has landed in Turkey to be displayed at an aerospace and technology festival, Russia’s state news agency TASS reported on Saturday, citing United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).
"The multipurpose fighter jet Sukhoi Su-35 has arrived at Turkey’s Ataturk airport to take part in the Technofest exhibition," TASS quoted the spokesman of UAC as saying.
Ankara began considering the Russian Su-35s following a move by the United States last month to halt the delivery of the F-35 stealth fighter jets to Turkey, after the country took delivery of Russian-made S-400 missile systems amid concerns that it may lead to possible Russian subterfuge.
Following a visit by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Aug. 27 to Moscow where he examined both Su-35 and Su-57 warplanes at the MAKS 2019 International Aviation and Space Salon, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow and Ankara are discussing the joint production of Russian Su-35 jets and other military hardware.
