Turkey 14th most powerful country in the world - report
Turkey slid back one place, trading spots with Iran to become the 14th most powerful country in the world according to this year's global power rankings, Dünya newspaper’s Kerim Ülker reported.
The rankings, published every year by US News and World Report, look at the influence of a nation, as well as its political, economic, and military power. This year’s study evaluated 80 countries based on responses from 21,000 people.
The United States retained its spot as number one while Russia and China clinched second and third place, followed by Germany and the United Kingdom.
France, Japan and Israel placed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
Saudi Arabia, which has increased its influence in Africa and the Middle East, placed ninth on the list, followed by the United Arab Emirates.
