We will take control of Tal Rifaat to finish operation - Erdoğan
The alliance between Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will result in more votes being cast in support of the government than ever before, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Sunday.
Addressing a local congress held by his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Turkey’s Giresun province Erdoğan also said that high levels of support for his government were both a blessing and liability, stressing the need to work “night and day” to overcome what he has previously termed “metal fatigue”.
“The AKP has always competed with itself, not others.” said Erdoğan, in reference to the AKP’s dominant showing in elections in the 15 years it has been in power, “But this has increased our speed. We are preparing for the 2019 elections from this understanding. We are committed to this.”
Erdoğan also praised his government’s achievement in introducing a new currency in 2005. “Remember when there were zeros in our money?” he asked the crowd, “When we went to the toilet how much was it? One million lira! Remember those days? We came along and we threw away those 6 zeros. A toilet (entrance fee) that cost 1 million lira fell to 1 lira.”
Erdogan made his second speech of the day in Trabzon. Erdogan said that the Turkish led forces take Tel Rifaat to finish the Afrin operation, "We made our decision and entered the field. In short time, we will control Tal Rifaat and end the operation. We also demand from our counterparts to fulfill the promises they made to us about Manbij. The U.S. must take the control of Manbij from terror organizations as soon as possible."
Demonstration from Tal Rifaat and its countryside launched a campaign calling for Turkey's Olive Branch Op. to include in their areas which were captured by YPG more than 2 years ago. Tal Rifaat is a city in northern Aleppo, northwestern Syria. Located roughly 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of Aleppo.
