Both TurkStream pipelines filled with gas, Gazprom says

Both parts of the TurkStream pipeline are full and the pipeline is set to begin supplying gas before the end of the year, Gazprom, the Russian state-owned energy company in charge of the project, said on Tuesday.

The TurkStream pipelines will carry natural gas from Russia across the Black Sea to Turkey once complete. One part of the dual pipelines will provide gas to Turkey’s domestic market, while the other, set to begin operations next year, will carry it to Europe through Bulgaria.

“Start-up and commissioning process is in its final stage at the TurkStream gas pipeline, which is going to be brought into operation before the end of 2019,” Gazprom’s statement said.

“The Russkaya CS and the landfall section in Russia are ready for operation. Meanwhile, start-up and commissioning operations are coming to a close at the receiving terminal in Turkey,” it said.

Once fully operational, the TurkStream pipelines will pump 31.5 billion cubic metres of gas to Turkey per year, Gazprom’s website says.
