Turkish-American organisations establish new joint platform
A new social platform has been established in New York to provide common ground for all Turkish-American non-governmental organisations, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Saturday.
The Turkish American Communities Platform was founded for Turkish-American associations "to express their views in line with the core and the traditional values of the Turkish nation,” according to the platform’s website.
The Turkish American Steering Committee (TASC), co-chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s cousin Halil Mutlu, and the American Turkish Society, the oldest institution dedicated to building bridges between the United States and Turkey, are among the founding organisations of the new platform.
“The platform is a firm believer that each association should continue to its planned activities to bridge the friendship between our two countries,” said a statement by Ali Beba, a Turkish academic who is among the co-founders of platform member Beba Foundation.
“Due to the very bumpy relationship between Turkey and the United States at the present, however, we believe that there is a need of for building a platform or a common ground to help the tightening the ranks between these associations so that they could express accorded voices,” the statement said.
