U.S. deploys 600 more troops in Syria – report
The United States deployed an additional 600 troops in Syria, adjacent to the Iraqi border, Turkey’s Milliyet newspaper reported.
The military contingent, comprised of special forces soldiers, has reached the U.S.-controlled El Tanf base with armoured vehicles, Milliyet said citing a report in Arabic by website Palmyra Monitor.
The United States established the base at El Tanf, located 23 kilometres to the southwest of the Syrian town of Al-Tanf, in the Homs Governorate in early 2016. The military outpost was reportedly set up to train anti–government fighters.
