Zarrab’s Turkish employees arrested

Three of Iranian-Turkish gold trader Reza Zarrab’s employees in Turkey have been arrested on suspicion of sending documents to the U.S. courts as part of Zarrab’s plea deal, Hürriyet newspaper said.

Sinem Arslan, Regaip Akol and Mustafa Hacısalihoğlu were arrested late on Sunday on charges of “destroying, damaging, counterfeiting or moving, obtaining under false pretences or stealing … documents relating to state security or domestic or foreign political interests”.

Police also confiscated documents relating to the ongoing U.S. sanctions-busting case.

One of them, a hand-written note obtained by Hürriyet, asked Arslan to meet a lawyer to find out whether Zarrab could move to Dubai if he were deported from the United States.
