95 percent of COVID-19 patients unvaccinated in Turkey’s eastern province - report

Nine-five percent of the patients who are treated for COVID-19 in Turkey’s eastern province of Erzurum are either unvaccinated or have only received one shot, Diken newspaper reported on Tuesday.

“There is not a single intensive care patient in the hospital who has received two doses of BioNTech vaccine. This is very interesting data,” Gürsel Bedir, provincial health director of Erzurum said, citing a study conducted between April and August in the Erzurum City Hospital.

“We have opened 10 vaccine polyclinics; we are reducing it to four- five since demand is too low. Therefore, we need to trust the vaccine and go and have it done without any hesitation,” Bedir added.

Almost 80 million Turkish citizens have been vaccinated. Over 42 million have only received one shot of COVID vaccine while over 30 million have received the second jab, according to the figures provided by the Turkish Health Ministry.
